Heather Hill

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Heather Hill

A captivating nose cleverly weaves together aromatics of ripe huckleberry layered with earth, cloves, toasted almonds and savory herbs. The entry is full, with good structure displayed on the palate. The tannins have grip yet are artfully balanced by plentiful fruit and acidity. Pomegranate opens on the palate and plays with notes of grilled rosemary and meaty black olive. Finally, melted dark chocolate appears creating a subtle sweetness throughout a lengthy finish.

Also available in magnum format.

Wine Profile
"A compelling and nuanced red, with black cherry and blueberry flavors that take on savory mocha and black olive details on the way to refined tannins. Drink now through 2031." Tim Fish, Wine Spectator "The 100% varietal 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Heather Hill is a killer effort by the Wampflers. Quite dark in the glass, it exudes class, presenting anise and black currant tones alongside tilled soil and suggestions of mocha on the nose. The palate is exceedingly well-balanced, offering salty undertones that combine with a brilliantly, age-worthy effort that will captivate the senses for many years to come. Enjoy over the next 15-plus years." Owen Bargreen, Vinous 94 pts. "A dense nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, leather, coffee and chopped walnut. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Rich and lush on the palate, where there's an abyss of black fruit. Very well balanced and polished. This needs some more time to show its true potential. Best after 2024." James Suckling, 93 pts. "Tight and focused with beautiful cassis and dark raspberry as well as notes of violets, lavender, tobacco and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, pure and elegant with terrific minerality, a good mid-palate density, and plenty of length on the finish. Hold for 3-4 years and age for 15+." Jeb Dunnuck, 93 pts.
